Well, this is still quite old news because I am so darn lazy when it comes to updating my journals! But for the sake of having a new one since the other one was from last year, here it is. ( I used to be really good you know, as a kid I wrote whole booklets full about my life and teen boyfriend drama's and more, everyday, haha. In fact, I think writing in a diary with a pen on paper would still work better for me... ) But what the title says is still true. My thesis has been finished and it is also graded, I got a 7,5 for it which is quite high at my school, so I'm very happy with it!
Now the only thing left for me is waiting till my graduation certificate arrives at school, so I can sign it and then take it home with me as a then official illustrator! Ah, that day will be a good one.
If you're curious and would like to see a picture of my blood, sweat, and tears; take a look by clicking on the link below! It's called 'The power of craftsmanship' translated, but in Dutch it sounds cooler as it rhymes, haha. It's 182 pages thick, it's enormous and I'm in love with it.

Right now, I can finally say the pieces of my life are slowly falling in place again. The past year has been quite a mess, with classmates already graduating while I was staying behind and couldn't really start building up my life. But it's getting better now that this major thing is finally finished! I can't even put to words how good it feels. I'm talking with a publisher right now that saw my thesis laying at the publishing house ( with some of my own artwork in it ) where I had it printed and she's interested in using my work for a upcoming book publication, and I am at the moment working as a freelancer with a dutch small company by creating artwork for products they want to sell; letter paper, stickers, postcards, and more. It feels good to be busy again and have other people being interested in my work! : ) I hope I am able to show some of these works soon! The downside is I don't have much time right now to build on my personal portfolio, but earning money right now is a good thing to do as well, as there are plans in the making I will be moving to Sweden to try build up a life together with my boyfriend there. We've only been spending time together during vacations, so it will be good and a step we need to take to try live together when he is at work and I am working at home as an illustrator too! We both felt it was time for this, as no matter how fun a long distance relationship can be, it is also very very though. I'm glad we made this decision and I can't wait till the time is right for me to go there ^-^ The first big thing on our list has been found too: a new apartment with more room for us both to live in, with a hobby room for our computers and my workspace and more! : D It's lovely and we were very lucky by getting it

I'll keep you posted ( hopefully more often now, even though I say that every time with a new journal, lol! ) and let you know how it all goes!
Thanks for reading!

Website online!

2 min read
My own portfolio website has been online since around last week now, but I had not yet announced this gleeful fact over here, because I'm just very busy with all sorts of things for my graduation in july!
But yes, it is true, after alot of cursing and not being able to make a website I was happy with in Wordpress, I decided to give it another shot in Muse, and I'm still very happy I did  What a great program, and I'm only saying this in here because it just made my day with its simplicity, I was able to make my own website in around 4 days total. ( well maybe a little longer with the small minor fixings, but the rough base was down in around 4 days! )

So you are all free to take a look at my personal website, where you will find news and updates, galleries ( but most of it I have posted on here too ) options to contact me, and some links to other pages where you can find me. It is in Dutch, but I'm sure that even though the english translators usually don't do a great job on translating properly, you can still use that to read some of the text on there C :

I hope you enjoy your visit, and I also hope I'll be able to soon post some new work on here!

Last year!

2 min read
I wanted to get rid of the old journal, so I forced myself to write a new, haha
Even though I do not have too much to tell, but still.
This will be an exciting year for me, as I hope to graduate by the end of the summer as an Illustrator! I can't believe all these years went so unbelievably fast, and now almost half of it is soon coming to and end. Crazy! *_*;
So I am currently working hard on all kinds of projects we need to have done; my graduation Thesis, personal work for our exposition, several assignments, and making my own website wich is also a graduation assignment.
So yeeeaaaa thassalotofstuff 8D But I'm fighting my way through this!
I  didnt have a very smashing beginning of the year; 5 weeks after i got home after my vacation spending at my boyfriens house, I got sick.
I felt horrible, pain in my side and I didnt know what it was, massive headaches, yellow eyes and skin....and eventually thowing up after a long working weekend wich i just went through with because then I felt that i could work still. So I made a doctors appointment, had my blood checked, and after a few days the results came in: it would seem that I had the Pfeiffer disease, or else called 'Kissing Disease'. That was quite a shock, I never had something 'serious', only small sicknesses. Thank god I had a lighter form; I did feel tired alot and needed alot of sleep and rest ( and I couldnt work, unfortunately ;-; ) but now i'm already doing much better. Next weekend i'll slowly start working again, and my schoolwork did not suffer tooo much from it. I'm behind on some parts, but enough time to finish those!
I hope the rest of the year goes a little easier on me, haha <3 I gotta graduate, damnit! : ' D

There, wanted that off my chest a little!
I hope I got more stuff to show you guys, soon

Off to Sweden

Yea another one of those vacation journals, boooring I know 8D
But I just wanted to let you guys know that by monday I will be off to my boyfriend in Sweden again for two weeks. (yay! / )
The last two weeks of this summer vacation! That is quite horrible, it went so awfully fast! But that usually also
means that I had alot of fun. I've also been to Spain with my niece for a week already a few weeks back, and that was great too!
It was hilarious to be with her for longer then like a weekend, and everything went perfect : D <3
I have been productive these weeks, well a little, but I can't show the things I made yet because I'd rather get them scanned by the epic scanner we have at school then by my own. That one is pretty old and not so good : ' D And that's putting it nicely.
So yeah, wait for that! : D I hope all of you will have some nice last days too ( for the ones who also still have their summer vacation ) !

I'll be back. -serious face-

Wow, almost two journal entry's in a row, now isn't that rare? 8D
I thought this might be a good place to ask this, because I'd love to hear some opinions or thoughts about this matter. I am writing an essay for my philosophy class at school, and we have an self-chosen subject. Mine has to do with digital and traditional art. As an traditional artist mostly, I look around me( the biggest example is my awesome sis :icondesperish: and at DA, and I see so many wonderfully created digital arts. I sometimes get blown away by all the effects these artists can create with PS, and although I do not feel the need (yet) to go and use it myself since at this moment I'm fine with experimentating as I am, but I do look at these arts in awe, and wonder how I ever can reach the same effects by using my traditional media. Ofcouse I do realize practise and putting hours into this is the big answer for this partly, but that is not exactly what I am looking for as an answer. What I mean is; with Photoshop you can even create traditional effects, like graphic brushes or even oil paint brushes. In this time of digital media and art, I do wonder; will the 'real' traditional artist get run over by digital illustrators in the future? Since they can create so much and also much faster with PS and other programs, create that where traditional artists use pencils and paint for and maybe more time, too. Because no matter how you look at it, working digitally has many pro's and I also realise that as a traditional artist and I can't help but wonder. Is there even use for me to keep working this way, as working digitally can recreate anything with such ease (if you put your time into mastering the programs)? I do have some answers ready already in my head, but before I state some of those I would like to hear what some of you have to say on this, if you would like to help me! : D I could maybe use it in my essay ^_^
Thanks in advance so much already if you'd like to post an opinion or comment!

I think I should hit my bed now, hurhurr.
